Of all the things to worry about, I pick a dang registry. I've really been putting off doing my registry (as some of y'all have realized!) First I was waiting to figure out where the heck we were going to put the baby. Since we're buying a house and he'll have a room, I got ready to move forward. But then I thought about what to put on the registry. Some of my family thinks I'm stuck up and that I think I'm better than them. Of course that's not true and it's mostly my HaterAuntie that feels this way, but some of the things I want to put on the registry make me feel stuck up. MrC and I use all natural products on ourselves, so of course we want that for BabyC. But most folks buy Johnson's and Baby Magic and I don't like the ingredients, so I don't have plans to ever use that. But natural products cost more and I don't want people to look at my registry like "who the heck does this heffa think she is?" I'm also considering doing cloth diapers (and making baby food), but I don't even want to mention that aloud because I don't feel like hearing "girl please, you'll get tired of that and put your baby in disposables like everybody else" or any other opinion I didn't ask for. I know I can always take back any unwanted gifts, but does that make me seem ungrateful? People give out of their kindness, I don't want them to think I don't appreciate it. Am I over thinking this? Maybe I should do the registry, let y'all see it and tell me if I'm a stuck up poodle and then I'll redo it if necessary.
What are some must haves that I should register for? The only thing BabyC has right now is a robe and washcloths (courtesy of TiffanyinHouston.)

I don't think you're asking too much with things that you want for YOUR baby. But you should consider things like childcare and other people learning how to do cloth diapers etc. Like maybe it would be nice to have some back up formula and baby food for when you didn't have time to pump, or make any baby food and you're on the go or leaving him with your Mom/childcare provider. Or maybe you'll want to have some spare diapers to keep in his bag just in case you don't have time for a cloth diaper, or The Count can't grasp the concept. Otherwise you may end up being the only one changing baby count because your the only one that can do the cloth thing (assuming that cloth diapers are complicated) lol I'm a LONG way from even thinking about having children, but I was considering making my own baby food too. I'm gonna be such a corny mom! lol
Your baby. Do what you want. People are going to comment no matter what. If it really concerns you, you can leave the "controversial" stuff off your registry and buy those things with the cash/gift cards you get.
Taking baby stuff back is par for the course and you shouldn't feel bad about it at all. They grow fast, you may prefer one brand of diapers over another, they may develop an allergy to a lotion...
I was/am a pretty low-key mom and didn't like a lot of "stuff", so keep that in mind.
Here's the stuff I used most often: breast pump, bags for milk storage, onesies, socks, bottles, receiving blankets, books, portable changing pad.
The stuff I never used: huge diaper bags, bottle warmers, wipe warmers, Boppy pillow.
Okay, I'm done blogging in your comments ;)
Do you!!!!!!! I can't stress that enough. Not too mention people will talk one way or the other.
But if you are considering pacifying people, create two seperate registries, one for your REAL wants and the other for what others might want, ROFL.........
This is your baby and I doubt folks will have a problem with your choices. I breastfed and made my own baby food and folks respected that opinion. I have a friend who did cloth diapers and folks were fine with here decision. I found that I didn't really know what I would need until the baby came. Clothes, socks and onesises (especially biggers sizes) are always in season. As well as burp cloths. I found a swing to be invaluable as well as a good baby carrier, stroller.
You can always return items on your registry that are not to your liking.
Girl please. That is YOUR baby!!! Do whatever you want. Who cares if they think you're stuck up. It's because you are. And it's your prerogative!! I found a blog with tons of cloth diapering advice and natural birth, breastfeeding. http://dearbabyblog.com And part of the point of having a registry is to minimize the hassle of returns.
You will never have enough onesies and socks. Never. If you want to have certain things that you like, then leave them off the registry. I don't remember people buying me lots of lotions and stuff like that, and I don't think it's a normal baby "gift" anyway, so don't worry. People certainly aren't going to buy you baby food, so who cares about their opinion of where you get it from?
Things I found invaluable: the stroller that also has the base car seat thing, the swing, the portable changing pad, a sling for around the house, a video monitor. In fact, I have a video monitor and if you don't mind hand me downs, I'll send it to you.
I also agree with Chaunece, if you're going to consider daycare or other caregivers, you might want to check with several on how they handle the cloth diaper thing.
Agreeing with Nerd Girl. If you saw my registry, you'd think I was stuck up too...I've got all sorts of things. My line sister uses cloth diapers on her son (bum genius, I think). It seems easy enough, so go for it and screw what other people think!
Ok so i just googled the brand of cloth diapers that InnerDiva suggested and I feel SO slow. Idk why I was thinking about cloth diapers as something that you had to actually fold, tuck and assemble yourself. Like...I really thought it was just a square cloth that you had to fold into a diaper. *smacks forehead* They're not much different than the regular ones, other than the fact that they will save you a ton of money. I say put those bad boys on the registry!
Being a mother warrants getting unsolicited advice from everybody and their mamas plus the butcher. Ask for what you want, if people don't want to buy those items, they'll usually get you a gift card to make a contribution towards the items.
Buddha had enough onesies to start a revolution. From newborn to 18 months. If you ask for certain staple items in varying sizes, that will cover a lot.
Folks forget that this baby is here to stay and he will not need rattles forever. Covering age spans is always nice.
You'll need burp cloths, baby detergent and bottles in varying sizes.
